A Weekend Away {a first for me}
Friday, October 7, 2011 at 7:39AM
Today I am heading with my mother to Louisville Kentucky to visit my sister who has recently moved there for a new adventure/job for the long weekend. Although some may not think of this being such a big deal, but this is the FIRST time I will be away from the Mr. and the kiddos at the same time. Yes, I have done over night trips with the Mr. and I have done trips with the kiddos, but never both. I am both excited to explore a new city with some women folk and slightly anxious to be away.
Tips for any musts to do while in Louisville? Would love to know!!!!

How fun for you! I love girls weekends with my mom. Mint Juleps!
Unfortunately, I have no Louisville tips, but I know you'll have such a great time on your girls' trip. Enjoy (and try not to have mommy guilt)!
I'm from L'ville (now in B'ham). Favorite spots: Louisville Stoneware or Hadley Pottery (great gifts and bargains in the seconds room); Bardstown or Frankfort Road antique and consignment shops, Kentucky Art and Craft Museum. For breakfast: Toast (on Market down town). But best of all this time of year visit Cherokee Park, designed by Olmstead of NYC Central Park fame--a beautiful place for walks. Oh also Cave Hill Cemetary (only cemetery where soldiers form both sides of the civil war are buried)
Have fun!
Sounds like you're off to the perfect weekend!
It would be odd at first but trust me you would enjoy being with your 'women folk' as you put it. and it would be all the more perfect to see everyone after your break.
Have a great time.
i've always loved that kate spade image, and i think it was taken in arizona!
have a wonderful trip.
I live in Louisville! You'll have a great time. Check out the Nulu district on Market St for great shops and dining. Same for the Highlands neighborhood. Try Harvest for dinner in Nulu or Wiltshire. Jack Fry's is another great restaurant uptown. Have fun and best of luck to your sister in her new job.
Hi Paula!
I was going to recommend Bardstown road but I see that it has already been mentioned. I think you would really like the shopping there but also the neighborhood surrounding it with loads of bungalow style homes. There is a cookie place on Bardstown Road that's pretty famous - of course I can't think of the name - Kudzo cookies maybe? Really neat. Antique shops and local stores abound.
Have fun!
Hi I grew up in Louisville. Great town. I know I am late with this info, but you have to have Hot Browns at the Brown Hotel and Kentucky Derby Pie. You can only get these original delicious dishes in Louisville. Have fun.
Sounds great, hope you're having some good sisterly bonding time!!
I hope you had a lovely girls weekend :)
oh- so fun! I hope you were able to take lots of pictures!!!! these are the best of all trips in my opinion:) I hope you girls were able to have THE perfect weekend.
