The Gift Guide {Ellie & KJ}

This year the kiddos have very short "wish list" for Christmas. Almost too short. As you know we are not ones to go over board. We keep it simple and they seem to have adopted that idea as well. Just a few gifts under the tree then stockings that over flows is how we roll. Ha. Thought I would share what is on Ellie's and Kj's list this year...

KJ has only three things on his list this year, besides the big lego set which my mother is getting him. The MUST was a fish. I found this fish house and Ellie assured me that he would love it. He also asked for a car road rug and a bow and arrow set. That is all!!! Crazy. The bow and arrow set was harder to find. The closest thing that I found was the one from brave. After over analyzing it I decided that it did not look girl specific. I will just unpackage it and KJ will be none the wiser I hope. I really thought I would have had more choices. Hope it's a good one once it arrives. I thought a few stocking stuffers that would be fun are tattly tattoos, road signs for his new rug, and the dinasour shadow puppets. I have yet to decide what else to give, but I am sure more matchbox cars and the like will be added.

Ellie had only one thing on her wish list and that was an American Doll. She wanted Julie. We thought we add to her collection of LEGO Friends dolls with this cute little dog show set. She also has a love for cooking and baking so she will get her own little set and an apron to top it all off. She too will get tattly tattoos and shadow puppets. I am sure I will add something to her wardrobe and hair bows galore. Have any other ideas?

My son is VERY into bows and arrows...we've been through many, and I must warn you that if it's not sturdy plastic, it will probably snap. Part of the fun is having the string tight, so it "pings" when you "shoot" it. The best ones we have we've made...find a bendy heavy stick and tie string VERY tight to either. You can decorate the handles by winding colored ribbon around it, and use colored string if you want to get fancy. I swear, I should market these, I've gotten so good making them! I also so a man selling them at a Native American festival we went to, and he was selling them with "arrows" that were straight sticks from a craft store with styrofoam balls at the end.
Good luck!

We got our girls their bow and arrows at bass pro shop. May want to check there. Also, is Ellie into Breyer horses yet? We are still loving those. Check eBay for better pricing if your interested in collecting them. Dev loves them. There is an endless supply of accessories, barns, tack etc that coordinate with the horses. Just an FYI, but I'm sure you already know. ;)

Our daughter Reese loves the Friends Lego collection, she was very fortunate to receive a few sets for her birthday and plays with them each day after school. The whole collection is adorable:) Reese has written a letter to Santa and has asked for Julie as well. I have a feeling that the elves are hard at work getting our Jullie ready for Christmas morning. Happy Holidays to you!

I am baffled - why don't your kids want dreamlights or a superman robot or pillow pets? all things tacky and eventually disposable. Ellie and KJ want toys that look awesome on your blog - makes me a little jealous :) haha love you! PS. didn't make it to ballet yesterday

I love your children's wish list...I remember the days when these items were on my kids lists. I miss those days, but still fun at 13 and 18 too...just different.
