A Collection

Sometimes the oddest things catch my attention, such as this assortment of brushes from Brookfarm General Store. I could easily see if I started with a few then a full blown collection wouldn't be too far behind. Do you have any collections that may be out of the ordinary? I feel as if I am always purging our home which leaves me lacking the ability to form any sort of collection worth mentioning. Although I do have a small collection of pottery that I hope continues to grow over the years and a plethora of seashells that we gather during every beach trip. Neither worth collection status as of yet, but one day I hope they do!

We collect old wooden boxes, all sizes and patina. Some of my favorites are used as tall accent pieces that hide the cords from the tv/dvr. Some are used as a boost for a lamp or special accent piece. We have collected so many, we are now starting to pass them along to our grown children. My husband has been in Ohio for the last few weeks, and I heard some "new" ones are on their way home!

so pretty! I would love for my utilitarian objects to be so lovely. I have started several collections, but I tend to lose my gusto and then move on to the next. maybe I just should say that I collect "stuff!"

I started collecting ironstone and now it's kind of become a bit of a quest for me to find great pieces! I love it displayed on bookcases and shelves and also use bowls in my kitchen for lemons and avocados. I recently bought the most lovely tureen to place on a stack of books. Hmmm, maybe I have a bit of a problem. Ha!

I was just looking around that store yesterday! Awesome stuff... including the brushes. Totally know what you mean about purging so often that collections simply can't happen. Though we do love books and have two 6' shelves full so that probably qualifies. And I'm forever picking up pretty plates or serving dishes or glasses. Can't seem to help myself. Fun fabric too. Usually from the remnant store. Ok, so I guess I do collect. :) The good thing about our frequent purging is that whatever "collections" we do have, we must really love. :)

I try to stick to useful things. Items that will be around for the long haul, because they are necessary. I would consider my Le Crueset pots in this category. I have added pots slowly over the years. They are expensive and I give great thought into choosing one, as I know I will likely never part with it. And, I use them everyday. I also have a thing for old silverplate. I most recently picked up a tray (a steal at $5!) and a pitcher for flowers. I think your brushes would fit into the beautiful and useful category! I really like the dustpan, too.

I love all these natural brushes...only I'm afraid i don't know the specific purpose for each, they are quite pretty though. I'm afraid I have quite a few collections and they keep growing. I keep meaning to do a post on collections. It gives flea markets purpose...and I do love a flea market!
