Changing it Up {the living room}

Needless to say I had a blast at market. I came away with some much needed dining chairs, a coffee table, a lamp, and tons of materials to go through to see what our little shop may want to stock. As I mentioned last week I am doing a bit of a rearrange in our home to make it last for the long hall. One of the main changes is the reorganization of the living room. The TV is moving to the sunroom where it will become more of a lounging spot. I am selling our Rowe sofa simply because it won't fit anywhere else and my newish roll armed sofa made its way into the main living room. I also bought a rectangular coffee table for this space instead of the circular one. The basket isn't really going there and the small kobo chair will take it's place. Then a comfy chair, which I have yet to buy, will go where the kobo chair is now. The rugs will change, space over the fireplace be filled, yada yada yada. The architectural lamp I got at Scott's as we headed out of Atlanta. I am pretty much digging it. What I am not digging is that my house is in limbo. I don't do well with disorganization and it is quite a mess. Can't wait to be settled again!

Off to Market...

Today and tomorrow I am going to market in Atlanta. I am beyond giddy. I hear that I will be both overwhelmed and a bit like a little girl in a candy shop. I am hoping to come away with new frame choices for the shop and maybe a few things for myself. I hope you all have a great weekend and I will be back on Monday.

Last week I had the pleasure of seeing one of the frames in use! Amanda Pair a local photographer and neighbor featured one of our frames with her beautiful little girl. I must say I am rather smitten.

Creating a Sofa

When I first think of a twin size mattress used as a sofa I think of college dorm room, but the images above have me singing a new tune. I know I mentioned changing around a few things in our home yesterday. Well, one of those things is to make our sunroom (currently our dining room) into more of a lounge area. It will be painted BM sparrow and house the piano and eventually a tv. Of course all the changes I am planning to do to the home will take some time and money saving. I was planning on purchasing a deep sofa for that space, but now I am wondering if recreating one of these looks to be a great alternative for the time being and I will then have the cash to buy a few other things I am wanting. I think the key would be to have a well fitting cover for the mattress and really nice pillows. I have some gorgeous fabrics just waiting to be used. What do all think? The room will be used for mostly family movie watching, a place for the kiddos to hang when we have guests and a make shift guest room. I really would love to know your thoughts!!!!

GRATITUDE

I know I mentioned yesterday that I pick a word to represent the upcoming year. Last year was simplicity and this year I am going with GRATITUDE. I suppose this quote that I came across on Shannon's blog really sums it up. Why this word you may as? Well, after much thought and consideration we have decided to stay in our current home a few more years. The thought of someone defaulting on rent kind of gave me mini panic attacks especially since KJ is about to join his sister in private school this year. At first I was a bit disappointed, but I know it is the smart decision. In reality though I should just be thankful that I HAVE a house. A house that I do still like even. This is where gratitude is going to have make what I have into enough. I have plans to do a few things to the house to make it more of a dream/long term home for me although. Nothing too huge, mostly just make it more efficient for our family and our growing buisness needs. I can't wait to share my ideas and get some of your input!

A starter list of things I have gratitude for...

Jesus

my family, they really do rock.

my friends, old and new

our church

our neighbors, one reason why NOT moving isn't so bad

all our clients with KJP and the ones who trust me enough to help decorate their homes

The shop, who would have ever thought?

living debt free

discovering the bliss that comes from being gluten free

my new dishwasher

The ability to knit and the woman who taught me

ALL OF YOU!!!! Seriously you keep me inspired.

The last few weeks...

I had no idea my short little break from blogging to have uninterrupted family time would have lasted so long. Needless to say we had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. This past week I struggled big time getting back into the routine of things, but I think I am finally back. Her are a few iPhone snapshots from the last few weeks. The kiddos and I did tons of fun projects and baked like crazy for family and neighbors the week of Christmas. Since the Mr. is a creative pastor/director at a rather large church he is normally MIA for a few weeks till Christmas. I always try to make that time with the kiddos extra special. The week after Christmas the Mr. took some time off and we went to New Orleans for a few days. We had a blast! Ellie moved up to a more challenging horse for lessons. She was quite excited to mix things up a bit. The shop did great over the holidays and I thank you all for that. We also shot our last wedding of the year on New Years eve, which we have yet to post. Whew, we were busy, busy. Every year I pick a word to represent the upcoming year. Last year was simplicity and this year I am going with GRATITUDE. I will delve more into that in an upcoming post. Hope you all had a wonderful holidays!!!
